This position requires and active RN License for the state(s) of practice and Oncology Certified Nurse Processional Certification, if not must be obtained within one year of employment. Bachelor’s degree (B.S.N.) from a four-year college or university preferred; Associate degree or diploma acceptable. Position requires two years experience in some aspect of oncology care and above average intravenous therapy skills. This position requires knowledge if OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard, Hazardous Material Program, and use of Universal Precautions.
Summary:
Registered Nurse who provides direct patient care relating to all aspects of Physician ambulatory treatment administration, including assessment in response to therapy, access device management, side effects and symptom management of treatment regimen.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Performs aseptic admixture of chemotherapeutic and other medication agents for treatment administration;
· Provides direct patient care through patient assessment, treatment administration, access device management, side effects and symptom management and monitoring response to treatment regimens;
· Instructs patients and family members regarding side effects and symptom management due to treatment regimen;
· Serves as a conduit for education follow up and reinforcement between the physicians and nurse clinician;
· Organizes and maintains the treatment suite inventory of medications and supplies;
· Performs all documentation requirements in the treatments suite including but not limited to, medication lot numbers, patient care encounters, patient medication labeling, charge capture, and incident reporting;
· Assists in cost effective management of treatment administration;
· Utilizes and evaluates acuity data, as needed;
· Utilizes current research findings to support and improve nursing practice and patient care;
· Supports and/or participates in research protocols;
· Communicates effectively with patients and/or family members, co-workers and management with a professional tone;
· Responds appropriately to patient and family concerns;
· Initiates new ideas and projects that enhance patient care pr other aspects of care at Dayton Physicians, LLC;
· Ensure work areas are kept neat, clean, and free from trash and clutter;
· Assures all personally identifiable healthcare information of the patient is maintained confidential;
· Follows all health care privacy and safety rules;
· Other duties as assigned.
