Complete Description
The Nursing Application Specialist reports to the Director of Clinical Informatics. He/She analyzes, designs, encodes, implements, tests, debugs and modifies application input screens, data output and interfaces for a variety of clinical applications. Works with clinical users and vendors to define and build application requirements and to resolve application problems. Utilizes application expert knowledge and tools to optimize application functionality. Manages subcommittee activities, functions as a project manager and assists in the preparation of system needs assessments. Serves as the primary liaison between clinical users, physicians, information technology and vendors. Serves as a resource to frontline caregivers. Develops strategies for change management, performance improvement and application optimization.REQUIREMENTS:
1. Registered Nurse licensed in California.2. At least 2 years of clinical practice as an RN at CHOMP preferred.3. Has successfully completed clinical application training and is a proficient user of the clinical information systems.4. Experience with project implementations desirable.5. Possesses strong analytical skills.6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.7. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and Physicians.8. Ability to multi-task working on a variety of projects at one time; each project interrupted by another or some other project of higher priority, as well as interruptions resulting from close working proximity to co-workers.9. Ability to work productively in teams and independently. 10. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook required. Experience with other Microsoft Office products desirable.11. Experience with the application configuration tools to support the clinical systems is highly desirable.12. Experience in formal and informal teaching of adult learners.13. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.14. Experience in leading and facilitating group/team process desired.
