Job Summary    Under the supervision of the Clinical Social Worker-II Supervisor of Community Focus-Kujichagulia Project, the Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in the outpatient clinic setting; participate in assessments, crisis intervention, case management and medication services; and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications    Possession of current license issued by the State of California Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners; possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned; current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification; strong interpersonal skills and experience working with populations that is diverse in gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity; ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others; ability to work in a high stress, high volume area and work well under pressure and with deadlines; ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately; detail oriented; able to efficiently prepare written summaries of activities, set priorities and complete reports within required time frames; knowledge of medical and/or psychiatric terminology; good verbal, written, and telephone communication skills; able to work as a team member in a culturally diverse setting; knowledge of computers and software including Microsoft Windows 98/NT, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro and Access; one year of verifiable experience within the last five years working with a culturally diverse population performing a combination of the following range of duties: data entry experience, providing information, education, intervention and/or referral services, assisting staff in the assessment process and providing input into the development of treatment plans, conducting interviews, and participation in health promotion and health education outreach activities; well organized; demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability. Note: Fingerprinting and background check required. A preliminary job offer and assignment may be extended pending successful background clearance.
Preferred Qualifications    Prior experience working with substance abuse, mental health, and primary care divisions; prior UC experience; ability to work with clients and program staff from diverse cultural and social class backgrounds; ability to work as part of a team; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks; good problem solving skills; highly organized; an understanding of mental health issues and sensitivity toward mental health clients.
License/Certification    Possession of current license issued by the State of California Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners; current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
